This is a new multi-post series that I’m putting together on affiliate network training. I have hand selected Wolfstorm Media to work with me on doing this case study, and they have accepted. I wanted to use an affiliate network that is more geared towards the newer affiliate, with really solid training platforms in place and do a case study with them.

I feel that it’s super important to not only have great offers and great payouts but have the ability to train/educate your affiliates. Especially if you are dealing with newer or affiliates or affiliates not making the big bucks just yet.

The IDEA

I found a great way to do that case study. Instead of just blogging about Wolfstorm Media in general, why don’t I approach them and ask them to do an actual real live training test with someone that I know. I would document the whole process, get first hand results not only from the affiliate network but from my friend that is going through the live training with them. Hmm, great idea!

The next thing I did was contact Jeremiah Cooper, President/CEO of Wolfstorm Media with the idea. For the record, they are not compensating me for doing this post series. I want to help newer affiliates out and show them what an affiliate network should be doing if they want your business!

The APPROACH

I talked with Jeremiah over several days and told him how I have this friend that is just getting into Affiliate Marketing and gave Jeremiah the idea. We talked about doing the live training with my friend and one of his top affiliate managers. He was all for it and we set it up. This would be a great way to see how newer affiliates should be treated by their affiliate managers and affiliate networks. I was really impressed with Wolf Storm’s commitment to training and was hoping they would be on-board for this.

The BEGINNING

As of 2 days ago, they have already began doing some training. The affiliate manager spent almost an entire day online with my friend and getting to know him and what not.

As this goes on I’m going to blog about actual things that my friend learns from them as relating to affiliate marketing and maybe even give you an idea of what kind of results he’s having over there.

A lot more parts to this series will be coming.

As the days and weeks go on , I’m going to make this a multi-post series documenting how this works out and how affiliate networks should be treating their affiliates.

I carefully hand selected Wolfstorm Media as one of the top networks for newer affiliates, because of their awesome history of actually training their affiliates from the ground up. And for the record, they are not only for newer affiliates, I just wanted to bring extra attention to their training division as it’s top notch.

This is a guest post by Justin Dupre.

Scaling out. This is what you do when you’ve hit your maximum potential on any given traffic source. People get bored of seeing your affiliate ads on one website everyday, which is why looking into alternative places to buy traffic is so important. Scaling out is just another way to get all your eggs out of one basket, or in other words, diversify.

So when I was a one advertising platform kind of man, I was making a killing on Facebook. But like I stated earlier, campaigns would dry up and I’d be left searching for new niches or new targets. That was a very inefficient way to go about marketing. So when I heard about PoF’s self-serve advertising platform, I was pretty excited. I could now take the campaigns and data I had from Facebook, and pretty much translate them over to Plenty of Fish which has a very similar targeting scheme.

So what is Plenty of Fish’s advertising platform like?

PoF is a mainly demographic ally-based advertising platform, with a few psychographic targeting options built in. They serve around 100m page views per month, so there are a ton of impressions to go around (although not nearly as many as you’d come to expect from Facebook or Google). Ad formatting is identical to Facebooks – 110 x 80 pixel images with a short ad title and caption. You also have the option to use IAB banner sizes, although the amount of impressions from those ads is lower.

It’s a very popular platform for affiliate marketers to practice CPA arbitrage – that is buy traffic on the cheap and convert it to something that makes you more money with CPA offers. And why is it so popular? The traffic is amazingly cheap. You are forced to bid CPM, but with some traffic trickling in at 15 cents, and it flowing steadily at 50 cents, you won’t be digging deep into your pockets just to test out one affiliate offer.

So what kind of advice can I give you, from being an experienced PoF advertiser?

Dating. It’s the number one niche on PoF which doesn’t come as much of a shock, but it works! Dating campaigns are very high maintenance. You have to split test multiple images and ad copies, and continuously rotate new images to keep your average CTR up. If you plan on taking this route, be prepared with tracking tools by your side. (I recommend Tracking202/Prosper202) Dating Self-help ebooks and other similar offers work great, as well!

Use the targeting options! If you are a current Facebook marketer, this will be a breeze for you, and a joy. PoF includes a lot of great targeting options that Facebook and others don’t give you because PoF collects more user data as they are a dating site. Be creative and implement it. It will cut down your target reach, but if you work hard on your campaigns like it’s an actual business and not just a hobby (which any successful affiliate treats it as), you should be able to scale campaigns out pretty heavily over the course of one day.

Don’t forget to mention user data in the ads. Targeting smokers? “Meet other smokers.” Plenty of Fish also allows you to dynamically insert user city and other data with quick tags inserted in the ad copy. It’s a great tool that you can use to direct traffic to your ad.

There are cons, of course, as there are with every traffic source.

There aren’t very many niches that connect with users. People are here to find a date for tonight, not be advertised to. Again, it isn’t surprising why only dating ads or self-help ads seem to get a lot of attention here.

There isn’t a ton of traffic to go around. You will have to set your CPM bids pretty high to get a decent bite of the cake. You can get light traffic with lower bids, but bid price also can determine traffic quality. Higher bids get priority (Facebook also uses a similar system with their ad platform).

You can’t target international demographics other than the main English speaking countries: USA, Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand and the UK. While there wouldn’t be much traffic outside of this, in some cases, that traffic might be valuable to some.

So if you are looking for some extra traffic, need to scale, or have all your eggs in one basket, Plenty of Fish Ad’s is a great alternative traffic source for affiliate marketers. It’s got it’s fallbacks, but the amazing support, traffic quality, and targeting options make up for it.

—-

About a year ago today, I made the decision that I was going to teach.

I’ve done whole affiliate marketing, corporate consulting, secret guru training, offline businesses and other internet marketing thing…

These businesses would always be there for me.

I wanted to broaden my horizons and allow more people to see my unique perspective on various forms of Internet Marketing.

It wasn’t really about the money… I’ve already made my money… (see 1 Million Dollar Binder video if you are interested in some of my specifics.)

I don’t want to just be the Entrepreneur that made a lot of money on his own.

Rather, I want to be the guy that opened up the eyes of everyone around him, created a legacy for himself in Internet Marketing and made others a lot of money along with me.

–> I always find myself asking the question “If I were to die tomorrow, what would I want to accomplish? How would I want others to remember me?”

Part of my answer to that question, always motivates me to teach others what I know. That’s probably part of the reason I’m a blogger.

I feel like I have a very unique perspective on marketing and want to help as many others see it my way as well.

I’m a very simplistic, focused individual. I don’t overcomplicated things and always find ways to be efficient and successful.

This line of thinking and actually truly being passionate about helping people has allowed me to create a long of killer products.

But, I always said to myself… Can I really write one guide, do 1 video, record one audio call that is going to help everyone at once?

The answer is no. You can’t help everyone by not HELPING EVERYONE.

I decided that the only way to do this was, to find the most focused people out there…

It didn’t matter if they were successful or not successful. They just had to be ready to GO. Time to push the GO button. Those are the types of people I was looking for.

So, I created a very specific product, with a no hype, no bs message.

The message and approach was pretty simple.

I would create a product that is 70% training and 30% interaction.

I would base it on my strongest skills and experience.

I would pour my heart into this training and give it everything I had.

I would not only create the best, most uncensored, actionable guide and video series that I’ve ever done but I would also create a Bootcamp.

This Bootcamp would be a place to whip people in shape and give them a “marketers gym” to work out their skills.

They would have access to me and my team of phenomenal marketers.

No person would be left behind to fail.

…List Profit Bootcamp was born.

I know, corny name. But, I’m not here to hype things up so I wanted it to just represent the product as best it could without being “salesy”.

You want a List, you want to make money with it, and you want the best training and access to arguably the best list building coach around then this would be the thing to invest in. (Again, I’m not saying this to honk my own horn, I’m not a hype guy.)

So, that’s that. This thing has all of my hard work, HEART and passion poured into it.

And, it doesn’t stop there… it’s something that I’m going to keep pouring myself into along with my entire team to create something that’s never been done before. A product that not only IS phenomenal but a team behind it that ARE phenomenal and want to continually HELP you.

There’s not even a sales message here or on the site, just how I and my team feel about it.

List Profit Bootcamp

.. it opens in 2 days. I have no idea how fast it will sell, but we do have to close the doors at a certain point. Just the truth.

I was recently turned on to a network called CPATrend. These guys are making some incredible growth in the affiliate marketing industry. They are one of the most rapidly accelerating networks this year in terms of affiliates, quality offers and revenue.

Forget about having to sort through thousands of low converting offers to try to find the diamond in the rough.

High-paying, high-converting offers is the name of the game with CPATrend. They are entirely quality driven.

What I like about their CPA Network and the reason I’m making this post is that they are a realistic company with realistic goals. They are personable. You can jump on AIM anytime and have an in-depth conversation with them about offers, advertising sources, strategy, business, etc.

A profit and quality driven company that just knows that the more they help train their affiliates the happier everyone is going to be (and all the more money both sides are going to make.)

I did some asking around after I was turned on to them and was laughed at by some other big name bloggers and super affiliate friends. “LOL You never heard of CPATrend?” That was the most common response… I was kind of embarrassed at that point because I usually know everything about everything in this industry.

So I got to thinking. If I had never heard of CPATrend, a network that works so closely with their affiliates (new marketers through super affiliates) and has top payouts with top offers, then maybe some of my readers hadn’t heard of them either. Hmm, a perfect candidate for a blog post! Content for me, more exposure for them. Good deal.

But wait, I want to make sure I’m only recommending the highest quality of networks. A friend telling me it’s great is one thing; I like to do some digging myself.

So, I started doing some digging. I liked what I was seeing. I saw lots of testimonials and blog comments about them in addition to the good things I was hearing from super affiliates and others. The comments were in random places where it was clear that it was an actual affiliate posting, rather than a network posting to get attention.

Next step was to sign up for their network and give them a try.

I got side tracked one more time before signing up. I noticed that they had a nice policy on getting people into weekly payments at $1,000+ per week. They also have biweeky at $500+/week. I decided to do some independent research and was able to verify this is absolutely true and also that they don’t miss payments, ever. Great.

At this point I signed up for the network myself. I wanted to see what platform they were using, what offers they had, what the people were like, that kind of thing.

Signing up was a smooth process, straight to business.

I was floored by the awesome offers that they have. Seriously, some really nice offers. I took special note of their eCig offers. I couldn’t find a higher street payout anywhere else for the good eCig offers.

I starting chatting with Phil, whom I believe is the top guy there. I’m very good at reading people and he passed my tests with flying colors. Informative, fast to respond, knows his stuff and is a very nice guy.

If you want to get in a CPA Network with some of the best service around, actual living breathing and helpful affiliates managers who want to help you make money today then I think they are a great choice.

In typical Daily Conversions fashion, you can just go to www.CPATrend.com to sign up, that’s not an affiliate link and I’m not making any money off of you clicking that link.

Interviewing is an art. Plain and simple.

I often find myself interviewing all sorts of individuals for subjects in which I am barely knowledgable.

It becomes an art to figure out the right questions to ask and how to engage them in conversation aside from whatever they rehearsed in their bedroom the night before.

At this point, I can instantly spot someone that is just preaching some pre-determind speech at me to convince me to hire them.

This applies to all sorts of things, including when you are making media buys or making deals. Essentially negotiating is almost like an interview where you need to be able to read their voice, body language and words and respond appropriately in that moment.

Even the subtlest of changes in pitch of their voice, odd pauses or a scratch of the nose can speak a lot about somebody.

For example, I was recently interviewing someone and when I asked a certain set of questions the interviewee suddenly began speaking slower, looking up in the sky a lot more and scratching his nose. This was red flags to me, because that behavior wasn’t present before and he didn’t even realize that he was doing it.

I’m not going to make any specific recommendations on where or how to learn more about people as I learned from being involved in movies and acting. But, there are a lot of resources out there that you can pick up at the book store that will help you read people better and ultimately, interview better.

One think to search for is conversation hypnosis courses. It’s not as evil as it sounds. Basically, they teach you how to slightly manipulate people and in the case of an interview get them to open up.

One example of that is a few months ago I was interviewing someone that was “well rehearsed” and was basically just spitting out paragraphs to me that he memorized. I tried to break him but it wasn’t working. So I remembered a tactic from a conversational hypnosis course that was called something like the black mirror. Basically, the idea is to mirror their exact posture and body language and that would help you become more of a “real person” to them and they would drop their predetermined idea of what they were going to say to you. It worked, the guy immediately opened up.

Good questions are also very important too. I always try to think of questions that I would expect if I were the interviewee and come up with questions that are totally different.

Lastly a nice tactic that I’ve used in the past to get people to open up is to do something completely random in the interview. If you are the interviewer then try swearing at a pretend phone call as if the phone was on vibrate and you didn’t want to answer; or suddenly leave the room and tell them to wait a minute with no explanation. You can think of similar things that work on the phone as well.

What experience do you guys have either interviewing or being interviewed? Anything that has or hasn’t worked well for you?
