Did you ever want to instantly rank in the #1 position on Google (and other engines) for a medium (or greater) strength keyword in a matter of minutes. This is a fascinating example of guerrilla marketing and finding ways to GET traffic when you need it. Put in the work and you CAN get lots of relevant traffic with this method, just don’t spam or it will backfire on you.
Start with an “easy” keyword so you can get an idea of how this works, something at least 2-3 words, preferably 3.
Select your keyword, again something obscure to begin with so I can show you the technique.
Now, head over to http://www.big-boards.com/ and find the most relevant PUBLIC forum that you can that’s related to your keyword. Keep in mind, it needs to be a strong PR5 or higher with lots of backlinks to really make this work.
For example, let’s say you picked “top 10 freelancer websites” , what you would want to do is register an account for free at the forum of your choice and create a thread titled “top 10 freelancer websites”. Now, here’s the tricky part. Yes, your thread is probably going to be ranked first for that in about 5 minutes, however you now need to find a way to get that traffic to a link or website of yours without spamming these forums. (You should also mention the exact keyword inside the thread 1 time if possible). Make sure you select a forum that has “follow” tags.
The technique here is not to show you how to spam, you will just get banned from these forums if all you do is post a link in your thread. You need to post relevant content to that forum and you can then ask them to visit your site if they liked your post. You can think of your own ways to utilize the traffic (hint: forum signatures).
To scale this up. DON’T post a ton of threads on the same forum. Rather, you should start 1 thread per day on each forum that you visit, otherwise, I hate to tell you… you are probably spamming.
You can literally get 500, 5,000, 50,000 uniques in a matter of minutes if you really scaled this up and found juicy keywords with little SEO competition. (Scale it up on multiple forums not multiple threads per forum).
Here’s another even more powerful trick. If you have the budget, you could spend a few thousand and BUY one of these forums (a small one with a Pagerank of 3-4 you could probably get pretty cheap on Flippa.com) then you can start all the threads you want and not be spamming, since it’s now your website.
Either way, base the keywords you pick on powerful buzz terms that are relevant to the current market that you are targeting. If a guru just launched a product in your market, then you should be targeting keywords related to that product launch… by starting threads and talking about that launch is a great way to handle this. Then, a simple forum signature link to your product is a great way to subtly drive free traffic to your actual offer. Just imagine being instantly ranked #1 for a variety of nice keywords.
Things to avoid: DON’T register for a forum and start “self promoting” threads. You need to use this subtly and use forum signature links and subtle methods of getting visitors from the forums to your website. Don’t just start a thread and say “hey come check out my site!” with no other content or you will be banned faster than you can imagine. Also, if the forum you join has a minimum post count, don’t start spamming to get to that minimum post count. They will probably also ban you. Add relevant posts to get to the minimum.
Again, this is not a spamming technique (and it will not work if you don’t put thought and meaning into your forum posts). However, you can get a lot of traffic in a matter of minutes if you find ways to leverage your forum posts properly. Another tip is to mention the exact keyword in the actual post as well, that will help ensure the instant #1 ranking.
Keep in mind that you will need to probably do 10 separate keywords across 10 different forums to really make this work, depending on the volume of each keyword. If you can find 10 related keywords and use the same post for each one, then that would be one shortcut to not having to re-write each time. Although, you are taking a risk of again being labeled a spammer, so just use this technique wisely and don’t be stuck on the idea that you have to do it in a couple minutes. If you spent 45 minutes on this and put some real thought into your keywords and posts, then I guarantee you will blow 500 uniques out of the water and get way more than that.
This is one of THE most powerful guerrilla marketing techniques out there. You don’t need a list, and you don’t need a giant mass of social followers. You just need a keyword, a post and a dream! (sorry for the corny phrase but I couldn’t resist).
