I don’t care what industry you are in… there is a big secret (that’s not actually a secret) in getting customers and clients.
It might be a “secret” to some of you that don’t know or more of a refresher for some of you that have studied marketing psychology.
As an example, if you are desperate to get a customer or client – that’s when it usually doesn’t happen. It can seemingly take ages to get the ball rolling when you really need it. Why? Because you really need it. Confused? You should be.
It’s like when we are dealing with women/men. If you are really needy and need need need more than you give… most opposite sex don’t want a clingy, needy person… why would a customer or a client be any different?
You need to have something great, amazing, extraordinary – but not only that, you need to know how to present it.
If you are in a really desperate position, my suggestion is not to “fake” that you aren’t like most people will tell you. My suggestion is to go out and take steps to improve your situation. That way, you have things going and you’re not artificially creating a sense of having things going.
Going back to the relationship/dating example, instead of pretending to be busy and have a lot of stuff going on – just go out and hang out with your friends, get hobbies, work hard at work, do whatever you need to do to have an outside life.
The same could be said with getting customers and clients, but instead – don’t distract yourself with other things persay… distract yourself with things that could lead to getting clients. Even if you start up a class of some kind, you are going to meet people, who know people, who also know people. There are endless possibilities in getting referrals, new ideas, and staying busy.
It seems this post turned into a “stay busy” post, and I think it also has some good ideas about not being needy when getting customers or clients or dates. Don’t ever come across as desperate, and if you feel yourself slipping into that state, force yourself to go out and do things so that you genuinely are not anymore. I think the law of attraction works in wonderful ways. Resist the urge to fake it.
