My insights from Affiliate Summit West 2011:
- Shoemoney is great at presentations. He knows how to make it entertaining as well as informative. I was impressed with the turnout and he can really draw a crowd and launch a product.
- Companies will try anything including giving out cash money to get your attention.
- Certain exhibitors have really busy booths at the Exhibit hall and it can be hard to go up and talk to them.
- The closing keynote was impressive. I liked the Tim Ferriss philosophy.
- Ian Fernando knows how to hook up the homeless too. (video coming soon)
- The mobile session on Monday featuring MonsterFollowUp (although more of a glorified product demo) was really impressive.
- Mobile and Facebook is going to become the new ways to collect opt-ins, more and more.
- Jonathan Volk is one of the most well rounded marketers in affiliate marketing.
- A lot of good networking happens at the parties, game tables and bars.
- DK’s poker tournament was awesome. Me and Jonathan Volk got knocked out around the same time. Chris Guthrie came in third.
- The Wynn is just so massive that there was a lot of walking involved going to and from the convention area.
- A lot of attractive women were hired to hang around and wear tight clothes with logos on them, much more-so than Affiliate Summit East.
- Check the weather before leaving for a cross country marketing conference when you are scheduled to move across country 3 days following the conference. Flights get delayed and canceled and airports get busy.
- A couple of the sessions were conveniently using the presenters own products a bit too much for my liking.
- A lot more people recognized me here than at ASE. I guess that means my brand is growing in the West side.
- I’m shocked to find out that a lot of affiliate marketers don’t have any sales experience prior to getting into affiliate marketing.
- The more money I splurge on things like limos, the more lucky I get at the blackjack table. I hit blackjack on a single $400 bet and walked out with a $1000 chip after grabbing a limo from Venetian to Wynn with Jonathan Volk, Jacob Gall, Ian Fernando and John Oh.
- Word travels fast when you have something valuable for sale. A couple friends including myself were selling sites and boy does word travel fast.
- Everyone sets up tons of new business deals in the 3 days of ASW.
- Apparently companies want to hire me as their product launch consultant.

Glad everyone had an awesome time…. hope i can be there next time…

Please let me know more about this, here or by email – we don’t want anybody plugging their stuff, and they’re reminded of that many times after being accepted as speakers.
Had a great time hanging out with you at ASW!! Thanks for the awesome dinner! Lookin’ forward to hanging at the next show.
